WHICKE cover
When Cole Whicke and May Grimmsby turn 16, they're transitioned to a different dorm of Rockerfeller Foster Care for Deranged and Hysterical Girls (RFCDH - pronounced RIFF-KUH-DUH), they reunite as long-lost best friends who had completely forgotten one another.
Cole, a trigger-happy schizophrenic androgyne (nonbinary), has been at RFCDH since age 7, ever since they burnt their parents' house down. They had a twin brother named Greene, but everyone else dismisses him as a deranged fantasy.
May suffers from PTSD after her mother was brutally attacked by a Miasma, inhuman void creatures who were known during the Medieval times as Changelings. She's outgoing and spunky, the antithesis to Cole's quiet, brooding genius.
Together, they discover that their fragmented memories may not be the work of hysteria or "feminine workings" but a sinister plot formed by the Miasma itself.
trigger warning: religious horror/trauma, r4pe, gun violence, misogyny (it takes place in the 1920s), underage alcohol use, medical malpractice, and a lot . . . and I mean a lot . . . of profanity.
