Blood Rain

BOOM “This weather is just terrible...I need to find shelter.” It was 11:42pm and I had no idea where
I was or how far my home was. I turned around the corner, continuing to walk, being soaked and
cold. A lot of the stores and cafes were closed at the time, except a small diner that caught my eye.
How strange, I have never seen this diner around here before, maybe they just aren’t as noticed as
others. I rush over to the diner doors, seeing people inside, customers, and employees. I then
looked up at the sign to read Nuit’s Family Diner I tried not to waste another minute in the rain. I
softly pushed the door open and walked in, a bell ringing above me. The door closed behind me and
a young female walked towards me “Hello! -- Oh, my goodness, you’re absolutely soaked. I believe
my friend Theo has some warm towels in the back. In the meantime, find yourself a seat, and
hopefully by God’s will, this weather improves. I’ll grab you some coffee, dear.” She then walked
away, I read her name tag; Lunar what a pretty name, I agree though. I hope the weather improves.
The diner was small, it had a check-in counter in the front, and behind the check-in counter had
doors that led to the small kitchen, I looked around and spotted some tables, though they all were
taken. I turned and seen a young man waving at me in the corner of the diner, as if he wanted me to
sit with him. He looked a bit pale, his black hair was rough and a bit everywhere, a black cat was
laying on his lap, I decided to walk over, after all, I shouldn’t judge because he looks a bit rough, I
mean, we all do, it’s been a rough night for us all. “Do you hear it?” the man asked as I approached
him. “Hear what? -“I replied, and before he was able to answer, an employee walked over with
some white towels in his hands. “Kevin. Are you seriously doing this again?” the employee seemed
annoyed, Theo I read his name tag. “Kevin” didn’t respond and just stared at Theo, Theo turned
back to me and cleared his throat “Don’t listen to Kevin here, he hasn’t taken his pills just yet.” He
plopped the towels onto my lap and walked away to another table, greeting customers. The towels
were warm, but a bit rough, I’m grateful though. I wrap the towels around myself and look back at
Kevin. “I’m not crazy, you know. Everybody can think what they want, but its coming, and believe
me, this storm is no ordinary storm.” he was serious. I nod “I don’t think you’re crazy. I have been
questioning some things about this storm, myself, if I’m being honest. And what do you mean it’s? -
” just as I asked, the lights in the diner went out. “Everyone remain calm! There’s a generator in the
back shed outside of the diner, and the lights will be back on in no time!” Lunar said, having a
slightly nervous tone in her voice. I turned to the side and in the window, I seen this unexplainable
shadow, I had no idea what it was, but it wasn’t human. I nearly fell out of my seat, trying to speak,
