[SPOILERS IN DESC] So, today I watched The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (yapping session)
Hey everyone, it's like 9 PM for me as I'm writing this, but I felt the need to talk about the Super Mario Galaxy movie somewhere and this is kinda the only place to share my thoughts. So for a little context, I grew up with a Nintendo Wii as my second console and I absolutely love the Mario Galaxy games, I own 2 and I used to play 1 but I like accidentally deleted our main save file this one time because I was a little kid like oops! Before that, I've also been a hardcore Mario fan for most of my life. Luigi is literally my second favorite character in fiction (below Link and just above Spider-Man), so I was also excited to see more of this version of him on the big screen too. I enjoyed the last one quite a bit, it's not like the greatest movie of all time or anything neither does it have the deepest plot but it's a pretty fun family movie and one of Illumination's best probably right behind the first Despicable Me just barely. Okay this is the part of the Comment where I start yapping and I might get into some spoiler territory as this is entirely unscripted ramblings about the stuff I absorbed from watching it the first time, so if you still haven't seen the movie and don't want to get spoiled LEAVE THIS POST RIGHT NOW AND COME BACK WHENEVER YOU HAVE SEEN IT! LAST WARNING!
(spoilers incoming!!! turn back now!!!)
Okay so as I was saying, Super Mario Galaxy, much like it's predecesor, isn't the greatest piece of movie thing you'll ever see, nor is it really trying to say something, though I wasn't really expecting much like that considering I saw the last movie. First off, surprisingly Bowser Jr. is one of the character that stood out the most for me, which is interesting as a character I don't usually care about that much, he had a really cool arc with his dad Bowser (Bowser having a kid goes unexplained once more lol), I liked the little flashback they did with younger Bowser Jr and that little story which I'm glad they made clear that yeah no they were still evil back then too, nothing changed lol. Rosalina was pretty cool too, it was nice to see her actually fight for once outside of Smash Bros; Yoshi was there of course which was expected as he was teased last movie. He's not really super explored character wise and gets accepted into the main group maybe too quickly? But like, it's Yoshi. Yoshi is not the character to look for that stuff, he's a silly little goober who's marketable (Illumination loves those). The Mario Bros. themselves were pretty good too. The big M himself is about the same as the last movie but he's way braver and I guess assertive is the word? All I ever wanted was for Luigi to have a more major role and I got that so 10/10 movie actually(it's more of a 7.5 or an 8 which is still pretty good). Okay so Peach, this version of her still pretty fun. Toad was there. Fox was there? Wart was cool. They killed my goat Mr. Game & Watch. Yeah I think the space is running out here but pretty good movie. More stuff but no space
