Shu Sakamaki is the eldest son of the Sakamaki family, but people often mistake Reiji for the eldest because he is more respectful and brutal. However, Reiji is the younger brother of Shu. The two brothers hate each other because Shu gets all the attention from their mother, Beatrix, while Reiji does not. As a result, Reiji decided to burn down a village belonging to Shu's friend, Edgar. Even though Edgar is still alive, Shu is unaware of this fact. This incident is the reason why Shu is scared of fire and why he harbors resentment toward his brother. Their hatred feelings towards each other are not long-standing. Ever since Shu was little their mother started pushing Shu to become the heir of the family, and soon that made him lose interest in life.
